This is the second year that the Primary School in Tanowo has organised an Interschool Reading Competition based on the Saltamontes Chronicles. This time, the pupils at several different schools had their chance to shine by demonstrating their in-depth knowledge of the second part in the trilogy, The Secret Brotherhood. As previously, the competition was organised by Ula Roszak and Dorota Błaszczyk, who, once again, put an amazing amount of effort in. The walls and doors were adorned with quotes, there were mysterious trunks with treasure pouring out which had fallen from a sinking ship, and great scrolls of paper with excerpts from the book. There were T-shirts featuring the cover from the second volume, illustrations from the book on special boards, a grasshopper stamp and all kinds of other things which together made an amazing atmosphere, reflecting the whole book. The finallists demonstrated an amazing amount of knowledge but they were not the only ones taking part – they were just the lucky ones who had made it through the previous round! The whole day was a great success. After the competition, we had a lovely chat about all kinds of things and I have to admit that at the school in Tanowo, with the wonderful librarians and pupils, I feel right at home. So once again I’d like to congratulate Ela Malicka, Błażej Górzejski, Zosia Subocz, Mateusz Obrzut, Jakub Dołęga, Mateusz Marysz, Krzyś Cichorek, Wiktoria Kogut, Kaja Legęcka and Daria Świst. You’re all winners as far as I’m concerned, along with Ula Roszak and Dorota Błaszczyk, who managed to put on such a professional competition all by themselves – you’ll forever be in my heart and mind! Thank you all for allowing me to be guest of honor at such a wonderful event.
