Today I exchanged my racing gear for something a little more fairy-like and went with my good friend Karen Sayce to help children learn to write with a quill and ink! It was GREAT! And this all happened in a truly remarkable place. Szczecin International School brings together pupils from all over the world, and teaches them in English. The teachers, who don’t just focus on the curriculum (because in an era of modern technology it’s crucial to learn ways of interpreting content and not just the content itself), support the children in building relationships and respect for other cultures and history, and all this in a very friendly and understanding atmosphere. Leading activities involving the fostering of literary imagination in such a place and in such company was both a real challenge and a pleasure for me.
